Making the Search Work For You
Ask yourself the following questions: 

Who do you want to help?  In other words, what agency, cause or population do you want to serve? Maybe you enjoy being around senior citizens, but young children make you want to scream. Is there a particular cause that interests you—the environment, animals, disaster relief?

What can you contribute?  What type of job would you like to do?  Are you handy with a hammer, savvy when speaking in public, or capable on a computer? Your interests and talents can benefit a nonprofit agency and its clients.

Where do you want to help?  Is there a particular community or county where you wish to serve?

Do you want to volunteer alone or with a group that you belong to?  Many opportunities are made for groups of people – like big clean-up jobs. Many are made to be done alone – such as data entry.

So go ahead, become a volunteer.  You'll be glad you did and so will those you help!
