Volunteer Center of North Texas hopes that you'll join us on Saturday, November 17, in honor of National Family Volunteer Day. VCNT is partnering with Wee Volunteer to engage more than 150 volunteers in a variety of service opportunities. Families can impact nearly any issue that is close to their hearts, from homelessness to environmentalism, animals to senior citizens.
National Family Volunteer Day a Points of Light signature day of service, demonstrates and celebrates the power of families who volunteer together to support their neighborhoods, communities and the world. Held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving, National Family Volunteer Day kicks off the holiday season of giving and service as well as the start of National Family Week (November 18-24). Families that volunteer together not only address community social problems, but also strengthen themselves. Volunteering together as a family provides quality time, strengthens family communication and provides opportunities for family members to be role models. National Family Volunteer Day is powered by generationON and sponsored by Disney Friends For Change, a global initiative that inspires kids and families to take action to help people, communities and the planet.
Volunteers should register all family members for the project of their choice from the list below. Space is limited, so register early. All projects will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., and then all participants are invited to join a celebration for the entire family from 11:00 a.m. – Noon.
PLEASE NOTE: Minimum age for volunteers and number of volunteers needed vary with each project. Each family member needs to be registered for selected project. Refer to individual project descriptions for additional details. Registration deadline is November 16 by noon.
