ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program

Introducing College Students to the Nonprofit Sector

For nearly four decades, the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) has introduced college students to the importance of America's nonprofit sector. Since the program began, ExxonMobil has invested $3.5 million in the Dallas program. With the completion of the 2010 program, the CSJP has created more than 1,475 internships in the last 20 years. CSJP is active at 15 sites in 12 states, including: Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming.

Each summer, ExxonMobil Foundation provides 75 local nonprofit agencies with grants designated to hire college interns for eight weeks. Students are employed by social, cultural and health service organizations as an introduction to careers or volunteer leadership positions in the nonprofit sector. Internship positions are diverse and include jobs such as caseworkers, volunteer coordinators, public relations assistants and website designers.

The Volunteer Center of North Texas has administered the ExxonMobil CSJP on behalf of ExxonMobil Foundation since 1991.

New Agency Orientation
Agencies interested in applying for a 2011 grant must attend the ExxonMobil CSJP Agency Orientation on Tuesday, September 14 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Volunteer Center, 2800 Live Oak Street, Dallas, TX 75204.

The orientation is MANDATORY for any 501(c)(3) nonprofit or government-funded organization located in Dallas County that has never received funding.  If an agency representative does not attend the orientation, the agency will NOT be eligible to apply.

With the administrative assistance of the Volunteer Center of North Texas, ExxonMobil Foundation will provide grants of $2,750 to 75 organizations to hire undergraduate college interns during the summer. Membership is not required to attend the orientation.  However, only Volunteer Center member agencies are eligible to apply.
